Cherrie Pie Smoothie

If you follow my Instagram or Facebook accounts, you may have read about this new type of smoothie. I love it so much, I have to share with my newsletter tribe!


I was introduced to the concept of WARM smoothies last year. Warming the ingredients before they go into the blender is easier on the stomach and makes the nutrients easier to digest. I have to say, it's unusually delightful! You must give this a try.


If you find the concept too strange, that's o.k. The ingredient combo for this smoothie is still delicious and you can make it cold.


Smoothies are the ultimate recipe for substitutions. Feel free to freestyle any of these ingredients with your own substitutions - a different berry or even add some spinach or kale for extra nutrition.


To make this AIP, simply omit the ground flax and add in 1/4 avocado.


1 cup of cherries (frozen is o.k.)

1 cup coconut or almond milk

1” raw ginger, chopped

1 tsp vanilla

A dash or two of cinnamon (I like lots)

1 serving collagen protein powder

1 tbsp ground flax


Preparation:


Heat cherries, coconut milk, ginger, vaniilla and spice in a small pot on the stove until warm or cherries are de-thawed.


Add the above, protein powder to the blender. Blend and enjoy.
